“We love The Petty Criminals! They played at our wedding and had our guests dancing all night! Great choice of songs, excellent musicians and very professional. Highly recommended!!”
— Lori R, Los Angeles
The Petty Criminals really know how to put on a crowd-pleasing rock show, there’s not a song they don’t know. Fun, energetic and very easy to work with, we’ve booked them to play at our backyard concert event 6 years running and it’s been a blast every time with everyone on the dance floor!
— Lynn G., Santa Monica
The Petty Criminals are absolutely the best wedding band in the western hemisphere!

the band

We are an electric group of seasoned musicians and powerful, professional performers who have earned their musical stripes in pubs, clubs, theaters and stadiums; coast to coast and worldwide. Hailing from the UK, the East Coast of the United States, and the Pacific Northwest, all the Criminals share a love of classic rock-n-roll, from rockabilly and rebel country to the Beatles, and all the way to punk and Brit-pop. Johnny Cash, the Rolling Stones, the Clash, the Cure, REM, the Smiths, Tom Petty, Oasis, David Bowie, T. Rex and Dusty Springfield are artists whose songs you may hear in a typical Petty Criminals set.

CELIA CHAVEZ - Vocals, Percussion

Seattle native Celia has toured with major artists including Enrique Iglesias and Pink, and brings her stadium-sized voice and presence to this band. As a skilled percussionist and backing vocalist, she brings both harmony and rhythm to the front line. Celia’s wide and soulful range as a lead vocalist allows the Criminals to include songs from Aretha Franklin to Stevie Nicks to Janis Joplin.

ALEX TROUP - Vocals, Electric Guitar

With his raucous, primal vocals and pyrotechnic electric guitar playing, Alex sets the stage on fire as one of the three lead singers in this band. He came to the USA via Wales, Italy & Chicago and sharpened his performance skills as leader of the band, Troup, which was built around a shared love of classic 70s rock, analog synths, Brit pop and his original songs. Troup was playlisted on radio stations such as KCRW, KCSN and BBC Radio and continues to make an indelible mark on L.A.’s rock scene and beyond.

SIMON PETTY - Vocals, Acoustic Guitar

Vocalist and rhythm guitarist Simon hails from Manchester, England, home of the Smiths and Oasis. His rich, husky vocals bring not only the songs of his Britpop homeland to life, but are also a perfect fit for the rebel country and rockabilly of his adopted country as well. Simon has logged thousands of hours and miles as the frontman of the band Minibar and as a guitarist/singer in Pete Yorn’s band.

DUTCH SUONINEN - Electric Bass

Dutch contributes a rock steady, melodic fluidity that glues the rhythm section into a deep groove on every song. Dutch toured with the Vacation and currently plays with the Paul Chesne Band.

GRAHAM ROBY - Drums

The third Brit in the band, Graham Roby, has twenty years experience as a pro drummer and has toured the world playing with bands and artists such as Garth Hudson (the Band), The Black Ryder and Miranda Lee Richards. From old-school blues shuffle to Charlie Watts swing, Graham is the driving rock-n-roll heart of the band.
